Petri J. Ojaniemi

Päiväsaikaan graafinen suunnittelija, öisin jazzmuusikko.

Syntyi Helsinkiin, josta muutti Porvooseen v. 1988 vaimonsa, vaatesuunnittelija Pirjo "Pipa" Ojaniemen (ent. Eloranta os. Suoranta) ja tyttärensä Millan kanssa.

Suurimpia syitä muuttoon oli mahdollisuus omalle studiolle, jossa sai soittaa siihen vuorokaudenaikaan kun muu elämä sen salli, huolehtimatta naapureiden mukavuusalueista. Myös Pirjon työ, johon kuului paljon piirtämistä -myös yöaikaan kun muut askareet oli hoidettu-, helpottui rauhallisella ympäristöllä ja luovuutta innostavilla näköaloilla. Kuten Pirjo luonnehti eräässä haastattelussa, ikkunat ovat kuin alati vaihtuvat taulut.

Pirjon perustettua PO Design&Studion 1994 helpottui työaikojen ja -matkojen joustaminen hieman, vaikka useat toimeksiannot edelleen vaativatkin tiiviisti Helsinkiin matkustamista. Petri siirtyi PO D&S:lle mukaan myöhemmin.

Petri oli myös intohimoinen maalaaja, ja luontoaiheet lievästi fiktiivisin elementein olivat osa elämää ja sisustusta. Rachmaninoffia ulkomuistista soittavan ensisellistin pääintohimo oli kuitenkin jazz, ja tämä viettikin studiossa Hammondiensa kanssa kaiken ajan mitä suinkin pystyi.

Vuonna 2024 Kari Chydeniuksen avulla on saatu digitoitua kappale Äidin Varjo. Petri on säveltänyt kappaleen v. 1999 äitinsä hautajaisiin, ja nyt, kahdenkymmenen viiden vuoden jälkeen ensikertaa kuultuani sen innostuin niin, että tämä sivu oli laitettava pystyyn, ja kappale kaikkien kiinnostuneiden kuultavaksi.

Toivon saavani sivulle vielä joitakin maalauksia, sekä useamman kappaleen.

AD/Graphic designer by day, a jazz musician by night.

Born in Helsinki from where he moved to Porvoo in 1988 with his wife, a fashion designer by the name of Pirjo "Pipa" Ojaniemi (previously Eloranta, born Suoranta), and his daughter Milla.

One of the biggest reasons for moving was the opportunity to play and record music in his own studio regardless of the restrictions set up by neughbour conveniences in the timeframe the rest of everyday life allowed it. Also the work of Pirjo, which included a lot of drawing -usually continuing to the late hours of the night after all the other chores had been taken care of -, had taken a turn for the better because of the peaceful enviroment and inspiring scenery. As Pirjo described in an interview for a magazine, the windows are like paintings that are constantly changing.

Pirjo founding the PO Design&Studio in 1994 gave the possibility to bend the workhours and -distances some, even though many assignments still demanded rigid travelling to Helsinki. Petri joined in PO D&S later.

Petri was also a passionate painter and as one might expect the works of art with heavy emphasis on the elements of nature with a slight flavor to the direction of the fantastic was a part of the deacoration and everyday scenery in the house. Although the real passion of this symphony orchestras first-cellist, with memorized compositions in mind including ones from Rachmaninoff, was jazz and, as it was, he spend all the time he could in his studio with his Hammond-organs.

In the year 2024, with the help of Kari Chydenius the song Mother's Shadow has been digitized . Petri composed the song in 1999 to his mothers funeral and now after hearing it 25 years later I got so excited that I just had to set this page up for all intrested to hear it.

Hopefully this page will get some paintings, and more songs.
